I experiment with hybrids and breeding because of a personal interest in genetics and a keen affection towards cycads.
I don't hybridize to create plant stock for future capital gain. I'm not really fazed about the future market value of hybrid offspring, my goal is to raise the offspring for personal entertainment to see them develop as they mature, not to sell seedlings.
Ironically chances are good that the seedlings one give away/trade will be the ones with most desired phenotypical characteristics.
The current zeitgeist in this hobby is to keep species pure.
With confidence I'm assured that many many many pure seedlings are-and-will
